There is nothing better than spending time together over a meal, catching up on the day, sharing a laugh, and just savoring the moment. And few things can bind those moments together, etching them into our hearts and minds, like a bottle of wine. Wine is full of life and it’s full of history. There’s a good chance the right bottle of wine will be the star of the show around the dinner table, elevating that shared moment in time into a forever shared memory. It’s certainly always been that way for us.
Since the day we met, we’ve savored these moments together and, both being consultants that have helped launch and grow mission-driven companies, we dreamed of creating something beautiful and meaningful of our own. When we realized all the ways that wine can bring people together and create positive change in the midst of our current social, economic, and environmental landscapes, we knew that this was it.
It didn’t take long to find the
perfect piece of land
to plant a small estate vineyard.
Once we met Fidencio Flores, his father Lupe, and grandfather Armando, we knew that together, we could transform these dreams into reality. With five decades and three generations of Santa Ynez grape growing and winemaking behind them, they truly understand how to care for this land and coax the best out of its vines, while keeping the well-being of their people, many of them family, front of mind. With their counsel and support, one planted acre quickly became five, and through it all, we’ve become a team with a shared vision.
Nestled in the northeast corner of the Santa Ynez Valley, Horizon Cellars was born, and now, several years later, is producing wines beyond our dreams.
Making wine here in
Santa Barbara County
has changed our lives.
We do this with humility, reverence for the land and its history, respect for others who have come before us, and appreciation for those who have welcomed us in. We’re passionate about what we’re doing, taking our wine seriously, yet ourselves not so much. We are unbelievably proud of these wines and hope that Horizon finds its way to your dinner table to become a part of your favorite experiences and shared memories.
